Abstract	Uno de los enormes retos del sistema de Salud en Mexico para la prestacion de servicios personales y colectivos es la atencion a las enfermedades cronicas, principalmente la diabetes mellitus, (DM) y la hipertension arterial (HTA) y sus complicaciones. En la actualidad alrededor de 5.1 millones de personas tiene DM y 15.1 millones de mexicanos tiene algun grado de HTA. Ademas estas patologias destacan por sus graves complicaciones. La problematica vigente exige profesionales de salud verdaderamente comprometidos con el autocuidado y la promocion de la salud, la prevencion de danos y riesgos de la enfermedad; es decir con la adopcion de una nueva cultura de salud que enfatice la participacion activa del usuario para promover conductas que fomenten su salud. Abstract The enormous challenges of the system of Health in Mexico for the benefit of PS and collective is the attention to the chronic diseases, mainly the diabetes mellitus (DM) and the arterial hypertension (HTA) and its complications. At present around 5,1 million people it has DM and 15,1 million of Mexican it has some degree of HTA. In addition these pathologies emphasize by their serious complications. Problematic the effective one demands health professionals truly it jeopardize with the the promotion of the health, the prevention of damages and risks of the disease; that is to say, with the adoption of a new culture of health that emphasizes the active participation of the user to promote conducts that foment their health.
