| Abstract | The Omegatron probe has recently become operational, producing M/Z impurity ion spectra in the far scrape-off layer as a function of time. The physics behind the operation of the probe is complex involving resonant and non-resonant ion trajectories, space charge build-up, and the mapping of the ion distribution function from outside to inside the analyzer. In order to help sort out the physics of the analyzer and to demonstrate the utility of the diagnostic for scrape-off layer impurity transport studies, we propose a series of dedicated experiments aimed at the following three goals: |
