| Abstract | The average muon content of air showers with zenith angles exceeding 62◦ is obtained as a function of calorimetric energy from events measured simultaneously with the Surface Detector Array and fluorescence telescopes of the Pierre Auger Observatory using a reconstruction method specifically designed for inclined showers. The results are presented in different energy bins above 4×1018 eV and compared to predictions from current hadronic interaction models for different primary particles. |
