| Abstract | The investigations continued of the Palaeolithic site at Krakow-Zwierzyniec (15) (К. Sobczyk, Muzeum Archeologiczne, Krakow) have yielded several thousand flint a r t i fac ts of the Aurignacian culture and with t rai ts of the Szeletian, Gravett ian and Jerzmanowice (?) cultures. Moreover, important stratigraphical observations have been made. In the Carpathians, investigations were commenced of a Late Palaeolithic site at Sromowce Wyzne-Kąty (16), Nowy Sącz province (P. Valde-Nowak, J. Rydlewski, Komisja Archeologiczna Oddzialu PAN, Krakow). The typological analysis of several hundred art i facts has revealed-their links wi th the late and f inal stages of the Magdalenian culture. Most artifacts were made of local material, i.e. the Pieniny radiolarite. Excavat ions were continued at Kochlew (14), Sieradz province, site 1 (K. Cyrek, Muzeum Archeologiczne i Etnograficzne, Łodź) within a late Palaeolithic camp with a f l in t workshop. The assemblage of fl int art ifacts uncovered there contains elements of the Swiderian, Ahrensburg, Lyngdby and epi-Magdalenian cultures. Two-year 's excavations of a Mesolithic camp of the Kudlaevka culture were brought to a close at Burdeniszki (4), Suwalki province, site 2 (K. Nowak, К. Szymczak, Konserwator Zabytkow Archeologicznych, Suwalki). A Mesolithic site was moreover explored at Łykowe (13), Sieradz province, site 1 (M. and К. Cyrek, Muzeum Archeologiczne i Etnograficzne, Łodź). Aparat f rom numerous and varied points and microliths, the presence of adzes merits at tention. |
