| Abstract | Oral cavity melanoma is a common skin and subcutaneous tissue neoplasm in dogs, which has malignant behavior and originates from melanocytes. The diagnosis is made through the observation of clinical signs and histopathological examination. There are several treatment methods, such as surgical excision, cryotherapy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, however, the prognosis is poor due to high relapse and metastatic power. In the mentioned work a case of metastatic melanoma in a dog is reported, with the presence of a tumor mass in the oral cavity, ulcerated and blackened, with apparent deformity of the face.
