| Abstract | Due to the growing concern of climate change and its current and future impact on coastal commun ities, adaptation is essential to carry on in a changing c limate. The Atlantic Canada Adaptation Solutions (ACAS) Pro ject is a partnership by four Atlantic Provinces in Cana da and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to work alongside local communities, organizations and professionals to investigate the susceptibility and influence of cli mate change and to offer a basis for community acclimati zation decisions This reconnaissance study provides baseline data as a foundation for further investigation, and potential longterm monitoring by the Groundwater Section, Departm ent of Environment and Conservation, Newfoundland and Labrador. A total of eleven wells were studied and sampled in the southwestern portion of Newfoundland. Wells that yielded measurable bromide ions and were less then 500 metres from the coast are discussed in this case study. An indepth paper with results and study particulars can be found in the appendices. |
