| Abstract | Poly chlorinated biphenyls (PCB ) are the groups of organic chemical materials and toxic, persistent, S bio accumulate and pose a risk of causing adverse effects to human health and the environment. PCB compounds cause different health effects in human depending on age, route of entry, intensity and frequency exposure. This study was conducted to determine the effect of microwave rays, hydrogen peroxide, TiO2 catalyst and ethanol on the decomposition of PCB . Temperature and pH was continuously monitored. The S experiments were performed in triplicate and the results were presented as mean concentrations. Radiation was discontinuous. The PCB were analyzed by GC-ECD. The degradation of total PCB in terms of 540, 720 and SS 900W was 85.17, 90.18 and 97.05% respectively. The degradation of total PCB in terms of ratio to solvent with S transformer oil in 1:1 2:1 and 3:1 was 53.81 79.05 and 95.01% respectively. The degradation of total PCB in S terms of not using of H O and using 10and 20%of H O was 71.18,84.61 and 88.85% respectively. The 22 22 degradation of total PCB in terms of not using of H O / TiO and using 10% of H O and 0.05, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2 s 22 2 22 g TiO was 71.18, 88.6, 90.33, 91.93 and 93.11% respectively. The degradation of total PCB in terms of not using 2s of H O / TiO and using 20% of H O and 0.05, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2 g TiO was 71.18, 93.62, 95.01, 95.91 and 97.05 22 2 22 2 % respectively. The Microwave thermal reaction was applied for the dechlorination of PCBs and high efficiencies were obtained. Microwave power and amounts of reactants added are important factors influencing dechlorination efficiency. |
