| Abstract | Diffusion of both endogenous and exogenous innovations is a key factor for agricultural growth, hunger eradication and poverty reduction. The Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) underscored in 20041, that most developing countries are unlikely to meet the internationally agreed Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of reducing poverty and hunger without a clear political commitment to making science and technology top priorities in their development agenda and increasing the related budget up to at least one percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). |
