| Abstract | Searching for renewable energy sources is quite urgent now. Since hydrogen acts as a zeropollution fuel, it is extremely suitable to be employed as a sustainable energy source. ZnO (Zinc oxide) is one of the well-known piezoelectric materials. When strain is introduced to ZnO, positive and negative piezo-potential is induced at two ends. This piezo-potential can alter the band structure at the interfaces between ZnO and electrode or electrolyte, enabling to tune the photoelectrochemical (PEC) efficiency of water splitting through ZnO nanorods (NRs). |
