| Abstract | Rural extension services were inserted in the Brazil Without Misery Plan aiming to contribute to the fight against poverty, including social assistance actions. The objective of this work is to analyze experiences of productive development and rural extension for indigenous peoples promoted by the Plan in Rio Grande do Sul and to discuss the confrontation of poverty in the indigenous context. Data collection was carried out with documentary analysis on the programs accessed and through interviews with indigenous Kaingang of Inhacora indigenous land and Guarani Mbya of the Inhacapetum indigenous reserve, plus two interviews with rural extension workers (non-indigenous) who work in other indigenous communities of Rio Grande do Sul. Although the format of the Productive Development Program was questioned, the Plan gave access to 14 social programs in the State of Rio Grande do Sul and made possible the intensification of the rural extension services. Keywords: Rural Extension.
