| Abstract | Lithostratigraphiy, geochemistry and metallogeny of the volcanoclastic environment of the sulfide deposit of Douar Lahjar (Guemassa, Morocco). The massive sulfide deposit with pyrrhotite-sphalerite of Douar Lahjar is enclosed within a Visean epimetamorphic volcanic series crosscut by core drilling. The acid volcanic series contains distal tuffs, then proximal tuffs and lava flows. The unit is intruded by a viscous protrusion crumbled while arriving on sea-bed. Hydrothermal circulations, associated with the protrusion, develop alterations in the pyroclastic rocks (alterite) as well as the deposit of sulfide and exhalative sediments (chloritites, sericitites…). The sulfide paragenesis of Douar Lahjar is particular by its composition, with almost pure pyrrhotite and iron-poor sphalerite, with subordinated chalcopyrite and galena. The presence of graphite indicates that primary mineralisation is probably deposited by very reducing fluids. The sulphur isotopes show that this element and metals originated from substratum. |
