| Abstract | Questions and answers of what the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) signifies for those living with AIDS are given. An explanation of how the law protects those with disabilities from discrimination in education, social service, and employment is provided. HIV is considered by law to be a disability and, therefore, those affected are protected by this law. A person cannot be fired for having AIDS unless he is unable to perform the job. Questions concerning employer health insurance payment requirements, hiring discrimination, and employer accommodation limits for an AIDS employee are answered. Information on how to proceed if you feel your rights have been violated in the workplace, in a public facility, or a program, is provided. |
