| Abstract | In the current context of widening participation in higher education, distance learning remains a useful means for enabling flexible access to study. This paper explores the issues raised by and potential uses of distance learning. As a practical example, it focuses on the Early Childhood Studies (ECS) degree course at London Metropolitan University. This is a part-time modular degree delivered as a taught course and via distance learning (which has been in place since 1994). Students can opt to study in both modes. |
