| Abstract | Since the first reports on the so-called “Culture of Silos” there have been several functions attributed to areas of silos that archaeologists digging in the fields of Copper Age: grain storage, burial structures, rituals or simple garbage. However, the characteristics of shape, size and spatial distribution that some authors have analyzed so far have not provided a satisfactory explanation for a number of these negative structures if we account the density of the organic content if it is compared with the great loss of energy inverted in its excavation. From this project we propose other functions to those already mentioned in response to the current agricultural activities practiced in South America, Africa and Asia. These functions are the composting and storage of forage, currently known among farmers as silage. ** Departamento de Sistemas Físicos, Químicos y Naturales – Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Laboratorio de Paleobiología – IAPH ** Departamento de Sistemas Físicos, Químicos y Naturales – Universidad Pablo de Olavide VI ENCUENTRO DE ARQUEOLOGÍA DEL SUROESTE PENINSULAR ISBN 978-84-616-6306-4 |
