| Abstract | The issue of patient safety in the delivery of health services was actually discussed little or not until the early nineties, a period for which Brennan and Leape, two American researchers, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, one of the world's most prestigious scientific journals, the results of its review of thirty thousand randomly selected medical records. These authors found that there is "a significant amount of injuries inflicted on patients for medical care, and that many of these injuries are the result of substandard care," and concluded by saying that "the reduction of these events require identifying their causes and develop methods to prevent error or reduce its consequences. " Patient safety is a priority for health care in the ESE Tierradentro, incidents and adverse events are red warning light on the existence of unsafe care. Adverse events were reported in any activity and are a key indicator of its quality, it must develop processes that ensure users safe care. The ESE Tierradentro, undertakes under the scheme of the Mandatory Quality Assurance in Health to a focus on the user, creating safety culture in partnership with our internal and external customers, generating awareness of the multiple adverse event in a physical environment that ensures comfort all framed in the current mission and vision of the organization. |
