| Abstract | Diseases due to worms (helminthiasis) is a disease that was suffered by 90% of Indonesian children. Helminthic most widely used today are pirantel pamoat. Pamoat pirantel tablet monograph was only found in the International Pharmacopoeia, Fourth Edition, in 2008 the establishment whereof performed Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). This method requires a greater concentration measurements as well as time and cost of a longer and more expensive, so this research aims to find an alternative method which is cheaper and easier in implementation and in determining the suitability of content of tablets pirantel pamoat both branded and generic names on the market with the requirements levels established by the International Pharmacopoeia Fourth Edition, 2008. The method used in this research by ultraviolet spectrophotometry in methanol as a solvent on a 289 nm wavelength. This method fulfilled the requirements validation test with the percent recovery 98.50% and relative standard deviation (RSD) 1.31%, limit of detection (LOD) 0.4145 mcg/ml and limit of quantitation (LOQ) 1.3818 mcg/ml. The results were obtained levels pyrantel pamoat generic tablets (Kimia Farma) amounted to 95.85% ± 3.29; pyrantel pamoat (Indofarma) 100.42% ± 1.73 and branded name tablets Konvermex (Konimex) amounted to 93.99% ± 3.08; Combantrin (Pfizer) 98.79% ± 2.35; Wormetrin (Erela) 102.20% ± 1.51. Based on the above data shows the level of pyrantel pamoat in tablet dosage generic and branded name was fulfilled the requirement of The International Pharmacopoeia, Fourth Edition (2008), which is not less than 90.0% and not more than 110.0% of the amount indicated on the label. |
