| Abstract | Dyes have been used extensively by the food industry and it is known that dyes present in effluents are very difficult to quantify. Therefore, it is necessary to develop methods for the identification of dyes in industrial food effluents. This study developed and validated reliable and low cost aqueous molecular absorption spectrophotometry methods for the quantification of two azo dyes permitted by Brazilian legislation: Amaranth and Ponceau 4R. Thus, spectral scans of the dye solutions in the presence of buffers and interferers were conducted, as well as different statistical tests were performed. Buffers and cation sequestrants were used as stabilizing solutions. The developed and validated methods were efficient in the quantification of dyes. |
