| Abstract | The following article describes us a manuscript (ms. 36 in the Library of Marcelino Menendez Pelayo at Santander, the "Fedon" or the dialogue on the Soul's Immortality and the summary of the Illiad in castillian by Juan de Mena) whose origin, unknown until now, is the collection of the Marquis of Santillana (1398-1456). The cultural, codicologie and paleographie characterization of the codex shows us, at first, the panorama of the early Renaissance accomplished in the litterary court of Don Inigo Lopez de Mendoza and, at a larger scale, in the Castile ruled by Juan Trastamara the Second. After a detailed exam, we refer typologically our manucript to the category of "vernacular luxurius codex"; the cursive essence of the writing showed by the paleographical study, points out the "bookish" atmosphere where the documental writting also finds use in the first half of the fifteenth century. |
