| Abstract | Sport volunteers in Poland – their profile and role in sports event organization. As the number of important sport events hosted in Poland increases, sports volunteering tends to gain popularity in our country. The objective of this paper is to define a profile of Polish volunteers and to evaluate their role in organization of mass sports events. The survey of Polish volunteers compared with results of corresponding research in developed countries concludes that despite different characteristics and motives of Polish and Western volunteers, the real advantages linked to the volunteering keep the interest in unpaid work alive. Moreover, the rough estimation of the value of volunteers’ work prove sports volunteering beneficial not only for the volunteers, but also for the organizations involved. keywords: sports volunteering, Poland, sports event organization |
