| Abstract | The present study focuses on the numerical modeling of gas-jet wiping process. Jet wiping is a hydrodynamic technique for controlling the thickness of the coating lm applied on a moving substrate, with application in the continuous galvanization of steel strips. A turbulent slot jet is used to wipe the coating lm dragged by a moving steel substrate. In the present study a numerical modeling approach of the process is presented using the VOF approach for multiphase ows coupled with LES turbulence modeling. Simulations are carried out using di erent codes, using 2D and 3D modeling. The numerical results are validated with dedicated experimental data. A discussion of the observed di erences in the results points out the best modeling practices for the jet wiping process. |
