Adaptação e Validação Transcultural de uma Medida de Atitudes acerca da Estatística

Abstract	EnglishInstructors of first courses in statistics for the humanities and social sciences often find that their students have a very wide array of attitudes about the contents of this discipline. In fact, many students begin their study of statistics with a pattern of negative attitudes about it. Measuring the array of attitudes that student’s hold toward statistics is a prerequisite before considering possible intervention strategies. In this work we’ll present psychometric data on a measure recently translated into Portuguese, the Survey of Attitudes Toward Statistics (SATS-28). In this study we used a sample of 217 first-year students enrolled in a degree program in Psychology, at an historical university of Portugal. The results showed that the reliability (internal consistency) and validity (via confirmatory factor analysis) of the SATS scores are adequate and consistent with previous available international data. Future research needs are further discussed. portuguesOs professores de cursos de estatistica para as ciencias humanas e sociais, sabem que seus alunos tem um leque muito variado de atitudes sobre os conteudos desta disciplina. Na verdade, muitos alunos comecam o estudo da estatistica com um padrao de atitudes bastante negativas a seu respeito. Medir as atitudes dos alunos acerca da Estatistica e um pre-requisito antes de podermos considerar possiveis estrategias de intervencao neste dominio. Neste trabalho vamos apresentar dados psicometricos duma medida recentemente traduzida para o Portugues, o Survey of Attitudes Toward Statistics (SATS-28). Neste estudo recorremos a uma amostra de 217 alunos do primeiro ano matriculados num programa de graduacao em Psicologia, numa universidade classica Portuguesa. Os resultados mostraram que a precisao (consistencia interna) e a validade (via analise fatorial confirmatoria) das pontuacoes do SATS sao adequadas e consistentes com os dados internacionais disponiveis. As necessidades de investigacao futura sao adicionalmente discutidas.
