| Abstract | Intersections among capitalist, colonial and patriarchal relations of power for the (re)production of unequal and oppressive orders have been challenging the social sciences as a whole. In this article, I present two movements to deal with this challenge. The first is a historical and historiographical one, which is linked to a reinterpretation of the making of and the further development of the capitalist/colonial system. There are plenty of social analysis that situates modern capitalism as a result or even as a counterpoint vis-à-vis the (colonial and patriarchal) traditional “heritages”. In a different mode, I argue – via problematization of the primitive accumulation by Marx and Silvia Federici's like critiques – that capitalism, colonialism and patriarchy are inseparable in material (work, resources etc.) and symbolical (hegemony and dominance) terms. The second movement consists in the juxtaposition of this abyssal matrix (according the abyssal line formulated by Boaventura de Sousa Santos) forged since 16th century (modern world-system) with reflections and processes of contemporary struggles led by indigenous movements in Latin America/Abya Yala in the analytical framework of the epistemologies of the South. Key-Words: Capitalism. Colonialism. Patriarchy. Capitalist/colonial worldsystem. Indigenous struggles. |
