Abstract	The book is one of the main tools of working with a text, mainly in the Elementary and Middle School. Therefore, it is very important to have a more deeply studying about the types and genres of texts. The goals of this research are to understand some texts theories and verify the presence of them in the book. According to the analysed material, it was concluded that there was not a coherence between the reading activities proposed by the book and the instructions and text theories presented in the teacher s book.
