| Abstract | The acaricidal activity of the latex obtained from Hura crepitans and the ethanolic extract of Rinoria pubiflora (Canela de macuco) leaves against “infectious” larvae of Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Boophilus microplus was evaluated by filter paper contact toxicity bioassays. The biotoxicity of the latex and the extract against the larvae was assessed separately and in duplicate. The larvae were incubated in filter paper envelopes impregnated with the compounds in 5 different concentrations as for 24 hours. For the latex of H. crepitans was utilized differents concentration as: 25.5; 51.2; 76.8; 102.5 e 128.1 mg/mL of destilate water and for the ethanolic extract was utilized 26.7; 53.4; 80.0; 106.7 and 133.4 mg/mL of destilate water. The larvae were observed at 6, 12 and 24 hours and their mortality rate was recorded. The H. crepitans latex demonstrated a significant acaricidal activity (over 95 %) for the larvae of R. sanguineus and B. microplus. |
