| Abstract | Several studies show that optimism and pessimism can be associated with different aspects of mental health. See new cognitive and positive psychology supports the importance of optimism and pessimism in different aspects of life, trying to relate these variables with different parameters to measure personality. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between happiness and pessimism. The present study is correlational. In this study, 200 students of Isfahan University were selected by cluster sampling method. The instruments used in this study were: Life Orientation Questionnaire (LOT) and Fordyce Happiness Inventory. Data correlation analysis and stepwise regression were used. The results showed that the correlation between the most significant components of the Fordyce with the direction of life. The results showed that the total score significantly to the prediction of happiness are happiness and life orientation account for about 12% of the variance. |
