| Abstract | This paper presents a diagnosis to improve the results of the implementation of the 5S program with the methodology of Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), at a plastics processing industry. At the enterprise in question the deployment of these toolls provided an emphasis on teamwork, which permits to satisfy the needs of internal and external customers, add value to products and services of the company, reduce production s costs and increase company s capacity. Results show that the management practices adopted enabled a significant improvement in setup times, about 80% savings in time, allowing an increase of approximately 6% of the parts produced, contributing to increased competitiveness and therefore increase in profits.
