| Abstract | This paper establishes the growth of macrophytes Lemnas Minor sp. (commonly known as Duckweed), in the treatment of effluents of stabilization ponds that treat municipal wastewater; the parameters analyzed were biomass, number of fronds and removal of organic matter. Macrophytes used in the experiment were taken from jagueyes located on the outskirts of the town of Valledupar, Colombia. The assembly was carried out at laboratory scale and the system used was a type batch reactor (discontinuous flow). Which showed the following results: the relative growth rate of Lemna minor was approximately 0.1595 d-1. In this experiment it was established that the growth of duckweed is determined by the adaptation of these to the environment and was favored by the availability of nutrients. Therefore it can be concluded that the minor Lemnas are a good alternative for the treatment of effluents from oxidation ponds that treat domestic wastewater. |
