Abstract	starting from three instruments that were first validated for the portuguese population, we carried out a comparative study that analyzed if there were any differences in beliefs concerning violence and the perceptions of interparental conflicts, between children without (gi) and with (gii) experience of exposure to violence in the family. significant statistical differences were found between the groups in relation to the perceptions of interparental conflicts; however, on the level of the beliefs, the study points to small dissimilarities, only in those with sociocultural grounds.
