| Abstract | It Nei secoli XIV-XV le citta meridionali, sia grandi che piccole, mirarono ad estendere il loro controllo su una fascia quanto piu ampia possibile del territorio circostante, con risultati molto diversi da una parte all'altra del regno, frutto di un confronto serrato tra feudalita e comunita cittadine, con la mediazione, ora orientata in un senso ora in un altro, della monarchia. Oria, citta vescovile di dimensione media, cerco di estendere la sua egemonia sulla terra di Francavilla e sui casali di Torre Santa Susanna e Avetrana. Il progetto falli? con Francavilla, che vantava un profilo economico e sociale abbastanza vivace; ebbe successo invece con i due piccoli insediamenti, soprattutto con Avetrana. Alla fine del Quattrocento l'aumenta pressione dei feudatari, che ottenevano la concessione del mero e misto imperio nei casali, ridimensiono fortemente l'egemonia della citta. En In the XIV-XV centuries the towns of the Kingdom of Naples, both large and small, aimed to increase their hegemony as much as possible on the surroinding peoples. As a consequence of a hard struggle between the feudal lords and the urban communities, their efforts obtained very different results in the different territories of the kingdom. Oria, a middle-sized episcopal town, tried to extend its supremacy over the terra of Francavilla and the hamlets of Torre Santa Susanna and Avetrana. Its project failed with Francavilla, which was an economically and socially lively town, but were successful with the other two small towns, particularly with Avetrana. At the end of XV century the feudal lords obtained the merum et mixtum imperium on the hamlets and consequently, strongly reduced the hegemony of Oria. |
