Abstract	The category of gender is today a powerful tool of analysis, reading, and criticism of various human realities. The nursing professionals are invited to make use of this analytical in acts of care category, because it is important that understanding and expand their use in research, education, and practice of nursing as the possibility that recognize what the perspective of the science of nursing would bring to the debate on the gender and the same health of men women or from this type of analysis sexual diversity. Hence the importance that it be revised as this category has been used in the production of the nurses, with the aim of evaluating the potential of the genre in the science and practice of nursing.
