Abstract	Lidocaine is used in creams and lotions to soothe areas of inflamed skin or for example in haemorrhoid preparations to reduce discomfort. Lignocaine is used by doctors to anaesthetise areas prior to surgery, often avoiding the need for a general anaesthetic. It is also used in topical anesthetic sprays used for sport injuries. Further research may identify additional product or industrial usages of this chemical.
