| Abstract | BARBOSA, Carolina Cristina. Evaluation of indoor air quality in classrooms in a University Campus. 2018. 68 f. Senior Thesis (Environmental Engineering) Federal University of Technology Paraná, Londrina, 2018. Indoor air quality has been a cause of concern in recent years due to the deterioration of the air in many collective spaces of public and private use, with natural or mechanical ventilation as the case of installation of equipment. In classrooms the situation is not different, because students and teachers remain almost the whole of their day in these spaces being exposed to such pollutants. Exposure for pollutants can cause breathing difficulties, increasing the number of people hospitalized. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, noise, particulate matter, wet bulb index (IBUTG) for rooms with and without air conditioning and calculation of the air renewal rate only for air conditioned rooms of a university in the state of Paraná, in addition to analyzing if the parameters are in accordance with the current environmental legislation, in order to guarantee air quality for all academic community of this institution. Each room had two distinct measuring points, with a distance of approximately 1.5 meters from the bottom wall (point 1) and the front wall (point 2), totaling 36 measurements in the morning, afternoon and evening periods for each parameter analyzed. The concentrations of CO2 were higher in rooms with air conditioning and in rooms that had more students. All measurements for temperature and most of the values found for humidity are in accordance with ANVISA 09/2003. The air renewal rate found for air-conditioned rooms exceeded 27m3/h/person as established by legislation. The amount of particles from 0.0 to 0.3 μm on all days and periods was above 70%. Therefore, the results obtained during the work allowed to conclude that the air quality of the studied university is in agreement with the legislations in the majority of the evaluated parameters. Thus, indoor air renewal is of paramount importance to all users, since the better the air quality, the fewer illnesses and hospitalizations in hospitals are generated for this reason. |
