| Abstract | During the last decades, Land Planning, as the expression of diverse policies over a territory, has been enhanced by Geographic Information Technologies (GIT) as they allow for an integrated analysis including a high number of spatially referenced variables. The study of the distribution of hospitals is part of the so-called Health Land Planning. In this sense, location-allocation models, present in a number of software, develop an important role in decision making processes aimed at solving population's health-related problems. First, this work shows the application of the multi-attribute utility model (MAUT) as the pertinent procedure for efficient finding to estimate the demand of hospital-related services. Second, it shows the application of location-allocation models, implemented within LOCALIZA software as an efficient tool for determining new potential locations for hospital installations in agreement with society health demands. |
