Abstract	role in the cultural and associative move ment of Vic in the last third of the 19th cen tury. Among the initiatives undertaken by this group was the creation of a museum which ended up being one of the most direct forerunners of Episcopal Museum of Vic and a relevant landmark in the history of museology in Catalonia. The article follows in detail the origin, ups and down and char acteristics of this cultural initiative and the attitudes of its leading members.
