Abstract	Considerado como o principal desafio da humanidade ao longo do seculo XXI, o desenvolvimento sustentavel configura-se cada vez mais como um fim a ser alcancado pelas varias atividades economicas. Com o turismo, uma das principais atividades economicas em nivel mundial, nao e diferente. No entanto, “desenvolvimento sustentavel” e “turismo sustentavel” sao apenas conceitos e como em todo conceito, so ha uma forma de constatar sua efetividade: atraves da avaliacao. Avaliar algo como a sustentabilidade do turismo nao e tarefa facil e para auxiliar neste processo, existem ferramentas especificos. O presente artigo apresenta cinco destas ferramentas e analisa criticamente o potencial de cada uma delas para avaliar a sustentabilidade do turismo. Abstract: Considered as the main goal of the humanity in the 21st century, the sustainable development is broadly pursued by the economics activities and with tourism, one of the most important economical activities at the global level is not different. Therefore, “sustainable development” and “sustainable tourism” are just concepts and like every concept, it has only one way to verify its effectiveness: by the assessment. To assess something like tourism sustainability is not a simple task and to help this process it has specifics tools. This paper presents five of these tools and analyzes its potentials to assess the tourism sustainability. Key-words: Sustainable Tourism Indicators; Sustainable Assessment Tools
