| Abstract | The present paper seeks to articulate three key concepts that emerge from diverse international experiences with respect to post-conflict or post-accord processes, in this instance, focusing on the case of El Salvador, a country that experienced Civil War from 1980 through 1992 and attained a cessation of arms through negotiation and signing of a peace accord. The resulting agreements resulted not only in the demobilization of the insurgency but also in the establishment of a Truth Commission which, in the authors’ opinion, suffered from serious limitations that blurred the potential objectives to which a commission of such nature ought to aspire. The objective is therefore to scrutinize the experience from a Colombian perspective, focusing on its truth and remembrance aspect, as well as on its impact, both positive and negative, on post-accord processes in order to apprise the Salvadorian case in terms of lessons and experiences that can serve as resources on the road that Colombia is preparing to travel. |
