Abstract	The experiment, carried out in a greenhouse, had the purpose to evaluate the behavior of tifton 85 grass ( Cynodon spp.) resulting from an increase in base saturation levels (V%) through dry matter production and protein content variables. Eight V% treatments were utilized (28; 40; 50; 60; 70; 80; 90; 100), in a totally randomized design, with five replications. A pot with 4 kg of soil was the unit used in the experiment. The results led to the conclusion that dry matter production and protein content do not vary significantly with the increase of base saturation levels and new studies at field conditions are recommended to confirm these findings.
