| Abstract | A 120 day lactation trial was conducted using 12 lactating graded Murrah buffaloes (avg. b. wt. 602.53 ± 13.4 kg) by randomly allotting them into two groups of 6 animals each (control and treatment) to study the effect of replacing farm made concentrate mixture with hydroponic maize fodder at 25 % level on milk yield and composition and on nutrient digestibility. Further, in vitro and in sacco studies were conducted to evaluate the digestibility of hydroponic maize fodder. Chemical composition (% DMB) indicated CP and EE contents were higher in hydroponic maize fodder as compared to either conventional maize fodder or maize grain while the NFE content was higher compared to conventional maize fodder but lower when compared to the maize grain. Further, production of |
