Abstract	espanolEste trabajo tiene por objetivo presentar una metodologia para estimar las emisiones de los principales contaminantes de origen vehicular que se producen en centros urbanos en areas altamente transitadas. Dicha metodologia permite, adoptando un enfoque analitico, calcular los kilogramos de los contaminantes que se emiten a partir de la realizacion de censos vehiculares (realizados a partir de la clasificacion por tipo de vehiculo), de la medicion de los distintos segmentos de calles y del uso de una tabla de coeficientes de emision. A continuacion se muestran los resultados obtenidos al aplicar esta metodologia en la zona centro de la localidad de General Belgrano. Por ultimo, se discutieron medidas para mejorar la situacion. EnglishThis paper's main goal is to present a new methodology to estimate the major polluting emissions produced by vehicles in highly busy areas of urban centres. Based on an analytical approach, this methodology allows calculating the kilograms of pollution emitted using vehicular census data (taking into account the vehicle type), streets measurements, and emission coefficient tables.The results shown below represent the data obtained by applying this methodology to General Belgrano s downtown area. Finally, several alternatives are discussed in this paper to improve the situation.
