Abstract	The document presents the social and economic analysis in the departments of Meta and Casanare in view of the decline in oil exploitation in Colombia, evaluating the importance of this natural resource on economic stability throughout the nation and the scenarios that are projected in the future For this economic sector. The document makes use of various relevant situations in the hydrocarbons sector, in order to establish the relationship that these had with the development or economic slowdown in the country. The unbridled growth in oil exploitation brings with it social, economic and environmental impacts related to each other and with different consequences, factors that are part of the analysis contained in this document, with a vision through the passage of the years and product to the discovery of new Deposits. As the years passed and the product of the reduction in the oil reserves, this activity becomes more invasive with the environment product of the search of new deposits. This incursion brings in some cases displeasure and dissatisfaction of the communities intervened, conditions that are apt to generate conflicts of the social order with secondary impacts on the economy and stability of the regions. In turn, the economic boom brings actors outside the law who seek to make the most of the situation.
