| Abstract | Stimulant is one of means to increase latex production in rubber plant. Stimulant usage without considering the clone characteristics can lead to physiological fatigue. This study aimed at determining the effect of stimulant concentration on latex physiology in several clones. This study was carried out in. Promotion plot area (PP/ 07/03) planted in 2004 in the Experimental Garden of Sungei Putih Research Center. A Nested Design applied with the first treatment was clones (IRR 412, IRR 417, IRR 420, IRR 406, PB 260 and BPM 24). The second treatment was stimulant concentrations consisted of three levels i.e. S0 (without stimulant), S1 (ethephon 2.5%), and S2 (ethephon 5%). The results showed that increasing the stimulants concentration can increase yield, thiol content and inorganic phosphate, but decrease dry rubber content and sucrose content. Plugging index was significantly affected by stimulant concentration and interaction between clones and stimulants. Of the six clones tested, IRR 412, IRR 406, and BPM 24 had high response to stimulant, classified as responsive clones. While IRR 417, IRR 420 and PB 260 had low response, classified as less responsive clones. |
