| Abstract | The daily consumption of water increases with population growth and permanent development; in the different sectors: urban, agricultural, industrial and even services. The quality of the water consumed deteriorates after being used in these different sectors, and will subsequently be rejected in nature, but in principle these quantities of water must pass through a wastewater treatment plant. Algeria currently has 137 wastewater treatment plants with a purified wastewater volume of 16 million cubic meters (ONA, 2017). The objective of our work was to evaluate the quality and purification of waste water in the Tiaret STEP. The purification process in this station is based on intensive biological treatment with activated sludge. This study has two main parts : 1 . The bibliographic section is composed of three chapters; the first of which presents the characteristics of the wastewater and their average composition. The second chapter reviews the various processes for the purification of this wastewater. In The third chapter explanations on the reuse of treated wastewater for agricultural purposes based on the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Algerian Official Journal (JORA 2012); for safe irrigation for the recycling of treated wastewater. 2 . The second part presented by Chapter VI which is an analytical balance sheet. In this chapter, an overview of the study area, a situation at the Tiaret station and the analysis of raw and purified wastewater that assesses the quality of treated wastewater that will be destined for reuse in the sector. Based on WHO World Health Organization standards and the official Algerian journal JORA, we show the analytical methods to determine the pollution control parameters of treated wastewater and reused in different agricultural crops of wilaya Tiaret (wheat, barley, potatoes, etc). At the end of the study we find : The results of the monthly averages of the various pollution parameters analyzed during the two months of the study (February and May 2019), allowed us to evaluate the quality and purification of waste water from the Tiaret STEP. • In treated water, the BOD5, COD and MES values in two months February, May 2019 exceed the limit values of the release parameters: BOD5: 30 mg / l, COD: 90 mg / l; MES: 30 mg / l. (JORA2012) .It is therefore necessary to consider more treatment by solving the technical problems of the WWTP to have a better purification efficiency. In the official newspaper of the Algerian Republic in 2012, a list of various agricultural activities that could exploit wastewater treated without health risks for the consumer of agricultural products and without danger for the environment, it is just necessary to have treatments in accordance with standards international. |
