| Abstract | A project titled ‘Lead Time Improvement by Re-Layout in Aerospace Company’ has been carried out at CTRM Aero Composite Sdn. Bhd in Batu Berendam, Malacca. The objectives of this project are mainly to enhance the process layout efficiency of the Painting Department and improve its productivity with the aim of creating a smoother product flow and utilizing the space within the production area. There are some significant problems faced by the company such as improper product flow and poor departments’ arrangement. The existing current layout is used as the basis of developing the new layout. Relevant information such as product flow, space requirement and process flow are gathered and as initial step seeking for the further solutions. In addition, Stopwatch Time Study Method has been used in order to identify the cycle time of the product in Painting Department. The overall manpower per process and the takt time of the product also being collected in order to make an improvement to the current layout. The analysis using Process Analysis Technique has been used to look up for an efficiency process flow. The comparison Pre Improvement and Post Improvement Measurement have been analyzed using Pareto Chart. In addition, the re-layout activity was also considering for having a better workplace in term of safety and ergonomic issue. And last but not least, the suggestion to enhance the process flow, increase the productivity and improve the workplace in the Painting Department had been done. |
