Abstract	A novel azafluorene derivative and an organic light-emitting device having the derivative are provided. The organic light emitting device includes a pair of electrodes composed of an anode and a cathode one of which is a transparent or semi transparent electrode, and an organic compound layer inter posed between the pair of electrodes. The organic compound layer contains the azafluorene derivative represented by the following general formula (I):
