Abstract	Las decisiones tomadas por la asamblea concejil eran el principal simbolo del cierto grado de autonomia que disfrutaban las ciudades castellanas dentro de la estructura politica de la Corona. El escribano mayor del concejo, su fedatario y custodio, se convirtio en el primer y principal burocrata de esta institucion urbana. Un oficio que, a pesar de sus caracteristicas tecnicas y la pericia necesaria para su ejercicio, a lo largo del siglo XV fue apropiado, como el resto de los principales cargos municipales, por autenticas dinastias de escribanos vinculados a las elites dirigentes. En este trabajo presentamos el ejemplo de los Roman de Jerez de la Frontera, una de las ciudades mas importantes y poderosas de Castilla en la Baja Edad Media. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The decisions taken by the council assembly were the main symbol of the degree ofautonomy enjoyed by the Castilian cities. The mayor notary of the council became thefirst and main bureaucrat of this urban institution. An office that, despite its technicalcharacteristics and the necessary expertise for its exercise, throughout the fifteenthcentury was appropriate, like the rest of the main municipal offices, for authenticdynasties of scribes linked to the ruling elites. In this work we present the example of the Roman of Jerez de la Frontera, one of the most important and powerful cities of Castile in the Late Middle Ages.
