| Abstract | The paper aims to investigate how the process of implementation of the project management tool in the Municipal Government of Dourados-MSoccurred. As theoretical support, Administrative Reform of the Brazilian State, New Public Management and Project Management were used. Regarding methodological aspects, the research can be classified as qualitative, descriptive and anexploratory single case study. Primary data (semistructured interviews with key informants) and secondary data (desk research) were also used. The implementation process of the project management began after a management diagnosisconducted in 2004. It was also established, at that time, the City Department of Planning and Environment, responsible for the definition and implementation of the methodology. It was opted to use a mixed methodology, management model implemented in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul and adapted to the reality of the city, concomitant with hiring external consultants. It was found that the actions were implemented satisfactorily. Key-Words: Project Office, New Public Management, Municipal Management. |
