The results show that in the year of 2012 545 cases were reported, an incidence of 2.59 new cases / 1000 live births. Of these, 23.67% of the pregnant women presented a level of schooling from the 5th to the 8th grade incomplete, being predominant the race with 49.72% brown, of these only 19.45% of the mothers underwent prenatal care, 51.74% of the pregnant women began the treatment in the year 2012, the diagnosis of the Newborn (RN) was performed with up to 6 days in 95.60% of the cases. It is observed a high number of cases of congenital syphilis in Bahia in the reference year. When analyzing the chosen variables, it was evidenced that there is a direct relation with the low level of schooling, because 59.09% of cases reported with this schooling were obtained. It is concluded that congenital syphilis continues to be a great challenge, although it is easy to diagnose and treat at a low cost, when compared to severe sequelae caused to the newborn, but it needs a better implementation of health care actions. |
