Abstract	The naturbanization concept explains the attraction that protected natural areas exercise towards a section of the population which wishes to live, work and enjoy its free time in surroundings with a high environmental value. This contribution refers to the analysis and evolution of residential development, new buildings and urban sprawl, as factors associated to naturbanization processes. For that authors have selected theree rural villages on the mountains, belonging to the infl uence area of Sierra Nevada National Park: Bubion, Canar y Durcal. Maps and aerial photographs cover half of a century of signifi cativally changes in building development, based on images taken in 1956, 1980, 1998 y 2004. The research group has development methodologies for remote sening and fi ledwork. These metholologies are based on geographical information systems. Final results will offer a properly image of buildings development and urban sprawl along the last fi fty years within the growth and the rythms of this.
