| Abstract | As stated in the GBPP of SMU English Curriculum, the students of the first year Senior High School are expected to master language skills; namely reading, listening, speaking and writing with the vocabulary mastery level of 1500 words and structure related to the themes. There is a vocabulary list containing words that should be learned by the students The test given to the students are integrated tests, in the sense that it covers reading, fictional skills, vocabulary and writing. Only a few words from the vocabulary materials are included in the tests. However, the writer thinks that it is also necessary for the teachers to measure the student, achievement of vocabulary materials that have been taught. Based on the writer's observation, the teachers do not give a special vocabulary test to measure the students' achievement on vocabulary materials. Therefore, this study aims to describe the construction of a vocabulary test for the first year senior high school students. Before constructing the test, the writer purpose; the steps of preparing the table of the specification are as follows : (1) Identifying the objective, (2) identifying the teaching materials, (3) making the table of specification, and (4) constructing the items. This study may contribute for the English teacher to give a vocabulary test included in the GBPP and taught to the students. |
