EnglishObjective: Describe the evolution and geographic distribution of mortality by Tuberculosis in Costa Rica from 1970 to 2014.Material and method: In order to obtain mortality, the INEC (1920-1969 period) and the CCP database (1970-2014) were used. The population was calculated based on the Population and Housing Censuses. To obtain tuberculosis mortality rates smoothed by regions and provinces, a quadratic regression model was used. To process the information, we used the Stata package and to graph the Excel program. Conclusions: Tuberculosis mortality decreased by 98.88% between 1920 and 2014. The provinces with the highest mortality were Puntarenas and Limon. By regions, the one that presented during the period studied the highest rate was the Huetar Atlantica. The lowest were observed in the Central and Huetar Norte regions. |
